People are getting more health conscious and want to maintain a balanced diet by quenching the daily vitamin and nutrition demand. For this reason, juicers have become an important kitchen appliance for many households. A juicer machine extracts the juice from fruits and vegetables in a matter of seconds.
However, there are different types of juicers available in the market as there are numerous fruits and vegetables, and it is very important that before buying one, you know the utility and limitations of juicer machine.
There are 2 types main types of juicers based on their power source.
This type of juicer uses a hand crank to extract the juice from fruits and vegetables. It is very simple to operate and does not require any electricity. However, it takes more time and effort to extract juices than electrical juicers.
This type of juicer uses an electric motor to rotate the auger, which crushes the fruits and vegetables to extract the juice. It is faster than the mechanical juicer, but tit consumes more electricity.
This juicer is specifically designed to extract juice from citrus fruits such as oranges, limes, and lemons. It has a cone-shaped reamer that fits over the fruit and a juicing screen to separate the juice from the pulp. It is a small, lightweight juicer that is easy to operate. They came in both electric and mechanical mode.
This juicer is a small, lightweight juicer that is easy to operate. It can be used to extract juice from hard fruits and vegetables like apples, carrots, and beets. It has a built-in strainer that separates the juice from the pulp.
Based on juicing technology, Electrical juicer is further classified into many categories. There are basically two juicer machine types: Centrifugal juicers and Masticating juicers.
This juicer type has a fast-spinning metal blade that shreds the fruits and vegetables. The shredded material is then thrown against a grille or screen, which separates the juice from the pulp. This juicer is easy to operate and is less expensive than masticating juicers. However, it produces more foam and heat due to the speed of juicing.
This type of juicer uses a single auger or twin gear to crush and squeeze the fruits in order to extract the juice. It is slower than centrifugal juicers, but it does not produce heat which helps retain maximum nutrients, enzymes, and vitamins in the juices. Moreover, juicing is done at a lower speed which prevents oxidation and hence increases the shelf life of juicer juices.
The twin gear juicers have the extra benefit of juicing wheatgrass and other leafy greens.
Note: in Pakistan, people usually buy Centrifugal/ Home Electric Juicers. So we would be discussing things in that regard.
Below is the list of a few of the famous brands of juicers In Pakistan
Juicer machine prices estimate isn’t quite easy in Pakistan. Imported juicers cost a lot as compared to locally assembles or manufactured. Then the branded juicers cost more as compared to cheap Chinese replicas. But, don’t worry Shoppingjin provided the best juicer machines price in Pakistan and mentions the origin & brand of that machine as well.
Usually, a standard juicer machine will cost you around PKR 5,000/- if locally manufactured. An imported Juicer will cost your at least PKR 10,000/-.
The features that we should look for while buying a juicer machine are:
We should look for a juicer with a high speed as it will reduce the time taken to extract the juice. There are basically two juicing speeds in-home juicer, fast and slow mode. There is an extra mode for the juicer (also called pulse mode). This is mostly used for cleaning purposes. Its button is specially colored in yellow. So buy a juicer with at least these 2 modes of operational speed.
The juicer should have a large capacity so that it can be used to extract juice from more fruits and vegetables at a single time. Its capacity is measured by opening cavity size. It could be spherical or in semioval (which is obsolete now). Nowadays, it is mostly in square or round shape. We prefer to buy a juicer with a large spherical opening.
The juicer should have a reverse function that will help unclog the juicer if any pulp gets stuck. Usually, the pulse rotates in the reverse direction (anticlockwise).
Juicers can get quite noisy while operating, so we should look for a juicer that operates quietly. The normal noise of a juicer is around 100DB. It’s like running a generator in the kitchen. So buying a quiet juicer would create sound below 40db.
A lot of local manufacturers are importing Chinese copies of juicers from abroad. These copies use substandard material for juicers. Their motors aren’t strong either. It would be a charm if they could last longer than a year. We always recommend our users buy an original branded product.
The material of the juicer plays an important part in juicer extraction. The grade of plastic is a notable attribute, as heat is generated while running these electrical machines. Substandard plastic could easily contaminate your juice with toxic gases.
You need to make sure that the body and base are made up of food-grade plastic. This plastic won’t release any toxic gas on being heated.
Shredder is the backbone of the juicer. Suppose it’s built with substandard steel. It can be easily defined, making your juicer machine break or being unable to crush the juice.
Rotary motors of juicers play an important role in extracting the nectar. Using a low-quality motor is like a ticking bomb. It can fuse anytime.
The average power consumption of juicers is around 800W-1200W. It depends on the size of the motor. So buying a low-power juicer isn’t recommended unless it doesn’t compromise the speed and power of the machine.
Juicer warranty depends on the brand from which you are buying. Few juicer manufacturers like Panasonic provide 5 years of official brand warranty.
Some of the features that are common in all types of juicers are as follows:
